Finance Systems Business Analyst - About the role

This role is responsible for supporting development of my client’s Finance Department financial systems, with particular focus on the General Ledger along with other financial reporting systems.

You will be required to collect business requirements, support / prepare detailed technical design documents, and assist business areas with testing efforts, therefore a good understanding of the relationship between the business and the data and technology that support the financial functions is also required.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Business Analysis / working on projects (ideally gained from within the Lloyds / Insurance Sector); Finance experience / operational knowledge of accounting processes and experience with financial accounting and reporting software to include: PeopleSoft, Data Warehouse and Reporting Cube Tools

Finance Systems Business Analyst - Key skills & requirements:

Technical aptitude and understanding of financial operations

Business analyst skills in all areas of the project life cycle

Must have the ability to perform successfully and independently across multiple initiatives and processes

Must have solid technical aptitude to generate detail requirement specification documents

PeopleSoft Financial knowledge is a plus

Confident use of Excel to advanced level

Ability to navigate SQL Desirable

Technical experience desirable: SQL, MS Access and Visual BasicCore duties:

Core Duties:

Participates in and/or leads project planning from requirements through design, development testing, implementation, evaluation and maintenance

Serves as a subject matter expert in business analysis best practices, participating in projects concerning critical functionality

Identifies and recommends improvements when appropriate and may advise business partners on options and technical limitations

Planning, developing and executing routine test/use cases and validating results during all phases of testing

Provides backup and Financial close production support for the Financial System Systems Analyst, including:

Managing the scheduling of PeopleSoft jobs. This includes amending job configuration where required, running jobs on an adhoc basis and monitoring the status of scheduled jobs

Verify the accuracy and completion of daily system processing, including interfaces into PeopleSoft from the Accounting Rules Engine, Investments and Cash Systems, amongst others, and liaising with other resources where error correction or further investigation is required

May be required to resolve basic problems or partner with technology development for analysis and solution

Part of change control processes to mitigate any changes impacting financial systems, with a view of the end to end process, including the Accounting Rules Engine and Reporting Cubes
