Job Summary

We have this excellent entry level opportunity for a Trainee Risk Modelling Technician with a leading Global Insurer in the City.

The brief of the role is to interpret, prepare and record underwriting data to provide comprehensive aggregate information and carry out modelling/pricing to support the underwriting process, obtaining schedules and any other ad hoc duties that may be assigned.

Main Duties

Analyse the quality of data presented in underwriting submissions and be prepared to reject any data that does not meet the required standard.

Use judgement to correct poor data or take steps to notify the data provider of any errors. Liaise with underwriting staff &/or Brokers to obtain better data where required.

Using MS Excel and MS Access convert the data in a format suitable for RiskLink.

Interpret slip terms and conditions and convert these in to a format suitable for RiskLink

Import the data in to RiskLink and Geocode.

Model/price business for modelled territories.

Build and maintain contact with members of underwriting team to identify and solve any issues in a timely manner.

Checking other analysts data.

Responsible for accuracy and checking of monthly data.

Chasing Brokers for schedules.

Making sure that workload is processed within the guidelines times and in particular that all outstanding tasks are completed in time for regular re-run of figures (currently monthly but pushing for fortnightly).

Technical Skills

Advanced use of MS Excel.

Advanced use of MS Access.

Competent at using Internet Explorer for conducting research.

General computer skills such as saving and retrieving data, basic MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe Reader, Windows XP.

A good general knowledge of world geography.

Education and Qualifications

Native Spanish speaking.

GCSE Maths grade B or above.

Minimum of 5 A grade GCSE’s (ideally in the sciences and maths disciplines).

Ideally educated to A-Level standard.
