Job Description
Job Purpose:
Fantastic opportunity for a Risk Assurance Officer to join my Insurance client’s growing team, assisting the Corporate Governance division with the day-to-day performance of the Risk and Audit function.
Core Responsibilities:
Design and maintain suitable Risk Assessment procedures to identify, mitigate and control all areas of risk throughout the Company
Be responsible for the production of Annual Risk Assessment and Audit Plans for review initially by the Compliance Officer and then the FCIM Board
Implement the approved risk management strategy, encompassing risks relating to the Company itself, or those resulting from services provided to third parties through Third Party Agreements and/or other contracts for which the Company is responsible
Ensure that Risk management and Audit work undertaken is both separate from, and independent of, those primarily responsible for core functions and the management of the business
Be responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the Company’s Risk Register and to ensure that appropriate Risk mitigation programmes are in place for all risks identified on the register
Ensure that regular internal audits are undertaken, along with a review of any material outsource providers at least once a year and to provide a written report to the Group Audit Committee (‘GAC’) and the Board
Monitor the implementation of all agreed recommendations given by the Board and GAC
Facilitate and regularly test the Company’s Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans
Liaise with the external auditors and the GAC as required and assist the Corporate Services Division in the review work of the external auditors
In conjunction with the Head of Corporate Governance, to assess the effectiveness of the compliance function and make recommendations to the Board and/or GAC, as appropriate
Attend the Board and GAC when required
Job Specific Competencies:
Experience
Solid experience of conducting internal company audits
Excellent experience of working in a similar role in the general insurance industry
Solid understanding of FSA rules, regulations, principles and codes of practice
Up-to-date knowledge of trends in the insurance industry relevant to Risk management and Audit
Requirements
Solid understanding of Risk Management techniques
