Job Title: Direct Front Line Claims Underwriter


Job Description

The role
The successful candidate will work within the Direct Property Claims department, as part of a team of Claims Underwriters.  This team will deliver a high quality claims service to our Mid Net Worth household customers; maintaining and enhancing the organisations reputation for its claims handling service. The role will include direct communication by telephone with the Insured in order to assess the size, nature and circumstances of the claim.  The successful candidate will validate and negotiate the claims, then determine and execute a strategy to ensure the most suitable resolution and settlement is reached.  The emphasis is on providing a fast track, yet extremely customer focused, claims handling service.
 
Experience of working within a fast paced and highly customer focused role would be preferable.
 
Key responsibilities
·         To take claim notifications over the phone directly from customers and progress the claim in the most appropriate manner depending on the claim circumstances
·         To handle all claims in a proactive manner and within set service levels
·         Handle telephone calls from policyholders, brokers, loss adjusters and other experts on new and existing claims
·         To negotiate and settle claims fairly; with an emphasis on prompt resolution and ensuring the customer is kept informed
·         To work unsupervised and show initiative in their claims handling approach  
·         Being 100% customer focused and being comfortable with the companys claims handling philosophy  
 
 
Key requirements
·         Ideally a graduate with minimum of two A levels (or equivalent) at grade C or above
·         Applicants should have experience in handling claims for an insurance company, preferably in the mid or high net worth household claims arena
·         Applicants are expected to demonstrate drive, determination, confidence, initiative and dedication, as well as having good listening, communication and analytical skills
·         Applicants must be able to work unsupervised and handle claims in a proactive yet highly customer focused manner
·         Applicants must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills both face to face and by telephone
·         Must be an excellent team player
·         Applicants must have an excellent ability to make prompt, informed decisions and accurate judgements
·         Must have good organisational skills and the ability to work in a methodical manner and meet deadlines
·         Must remain calm and focused when under pressure
·         Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of what ‘customer focus’ means on a practical day to day basis, and a desire/drive to deliver this
·         ACII progression or a willingness to begin professional studies would be advantageous
·         Good working knowledge of Windows packages would be advantageous
