Job Description
Overview:
Provide technical research and develop Technical Pricing capabilities, tools and methodologies for all Classes of Insurance business written by my client.
Working closely with other areas of the business including Underwriting, Claims, Actuarial Reserving and Finance functions, the candidate will have the core responsibility for assisting the development of technical pricing levels for all products and Classes.
May also be involved in or support other activities, such as reserving, claims analysis and/or cross-team projects.
Core Duties:
Assisting the Senior Pricing Actuaries with setting technical price, analysis, research, pricing, modelling.
Identify and explore market leading techniques to improve technical capability.
Regular risk based price reviews to ensure technical prices are available upon which to base retail pricing decisions.
Provide reports for all technical ratings analysis
Documenting all Technical Pricing assumptions and decisions
Providing Technical Pricing documentation to Performance Managers and Class Underwriters to support Actual Pricing decisions
Engage with other business units to ensure inputs to technical price are accurate and representative of current climate, including reserving, finance, claims, etc.
Develop, evolve and maintain technical models for all classes of business
Provide written reports on technical analysis undertaken, including identified opportunities and/or threats. Reports should clearly identify assumptions and or limitations (statistical or otherwise).
Work closely with all areas of the business to ensure models are accurate and contain the most contemporary knowledge of the business is reflected.
Contribute to organizational projects, new products or other technical areas of the business as required.
Work collaboratively with other areas of the business to provide technical support as and when required.
Key Requirements:
Essential:
Degree Qualifications in the Actuarial, Mathematical or Statistical field
Two years insurance technical pricing experience
Computer literacy (MS Standard Organisational Programs) and proven knowledge of model development.
Demonstrated knowledge of Insurance sector financial dynamics and metrics
Strong verbal and written communication skills encompassing the ability to present complex technical business findings in a clear non-technical manner.
Strong planning skills with high initiative enable self direction.
Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships.
Desired:
Additional qualifications in business, commerce or other business related discipline.
Five or more years in the insurance sector
Knowledge of price elasticity
Knowledge and/or involvement in setting budgets and insurance reserving
