Job Summery:

Our main client has presented an opportunity to join the actuarial department. You will provide reserving and reporting support across a range of existing syndicates/divisions, including aviation, energy, marine, non-marine, with UK motor and nuclear business. To provide actuarial expertise and support on Solvency II programme and associated projects. This will include being part of or leading mini-projects on specific tasks that are required within the framework of technical provisions and the wider responsibilities of the actuarial function. To actively contribute to the development and application of technical actuarial models and methods.

Main Duties:

Assisting quarterly reserve reviews for managed syndicates, this will include the provision and review of both year of account and annually accounted figures on a regular basis, and the ongoing improvement of the appropriate models.
The individual will be the junior analyst and will support the primary reviewer
Maintenance, enhancement and documentation of appropriate controls and checks for actuarial processes including the incorporation of Solvency II requirements within ‘business-as-usual’.

The individual will be part of a team that will be involved in the ‘BGLR’ process (i.e. deriving prior loss ratios used in business planning and calculating reserves) for existing syndicates/divisions for our client’s managed syndicates.
Production, development and enhancement of exhibits and reports to the Board and its Committees.
Project support as required. This is likely to be significant, with sizeable exposure likely to the implementation of Solvency II programme and associated projects.
Providing support to other members of the actuarial department on an ad hoc basis when required.
Participation in agency sub-committees and working parties as required.

Technical Skills:

Good IT skills

Education/Qualifications:

2:1 Honours Degree or better.

‘A’ Level Maths Grade B or better.

Desire to sit the Actuarial Exams
