Job Description

Purpose of the Job:

An opportunity has arisen within the Purchasing Department for a Buyer reporting to the Head Buyer. Due to continued growth and an extending portfolio of exciting clients, our client is seeking to employ a Buyer to assist and support the purchasing function. The chosen person will work alongside Staff members to provide a mixture of disciplines within the purchasing function. The job holder will be responsible for various commodities as directed by the Head Buyer.

Main Duties:

Assist in the identification and development of sources of supply that offer cost advantages to the company.
Work with Suppliers to ensure that mutually beneficial working systems are in operation.
Working within the procurement team to ensure strategy and targets are achieved.

Assist in the selection and implementation of suppliers as necessary according to the sourcing process.

Monitor supplier's performance (cost, quality, delivery).
Support the Head buyer to develop suppliers to improve their service to our client. Manage all assigned tasks, escalating areas of concern.

Ensure compliance with internal and external procedures.

Strong industrial work experience
Experience of working in a fast moving Purchasing environment

Experience Required:

Willing to work towards CIPS standards
Good interpersonal skills

Personal:

Proven experience of cost negotiation and preparing contractual agreements.

Proven experience in Global sourcing.

Experience in assisting in the management of the key supply base

In addition to the above duties and responsibilities, the post holder must be prepared to undertake such additional duties which may result from changing circumstances, but which may not of necessity change the general character or level of responsibility to the post.
