An opportunity has arisen within the Purchasing Department for a Head Buyer reporting to the Head of Purchasing. Due to continued growth and an extending portfolio of exciting clients, our client is seeking to employ a forward thinking and industrious Head Buyer. The chosen person will work alongside the management team to provide a mixture of disciplines within the purchasing function. The job holder will be responsible for various commodities in particular paper and paper related products, this will include price negotiation, supplier selection and management of the supply base.  

To identify and develop sources of supply that offer cost advantages to the company.
Work with Suppliers to ensure that mutually beneficial working systems are in operation.
Keep abreast of market conditions and conduct regular benchmarking exercises to review our performance.
Establish new product/project material costs.
Responsible for purchasing team members as required and as team grows
Working within the procurement team to ensure strategy and targets are achieved.

Select and implement suppliers as necessary according to the sourcing process.

Monitor supplier's performance (cost, quality, delivery).
Continuously develop suppliers to improve their service to our client.

Manage all assigned tasks, escalating areas of concern.

Ensure compliance with internal and external procedures.

Strong industrial work experience

Experience of working in a fast moving Purchasing environment

Educated to CIPS standards or working towards
Good interpersonal skills
