Job Description
Purpose of Job
Responsible for the adjustment of the Direct Liability including UK Marine EL & PL. and International Liability claims within the Syndicates.
Main Task
- The jobholder is responsible for adjusting primarily the following claims for risks led by the Syndicates in accordance with agreed guidelines:
- Direct Liability
- UK Marine EL & PL
- International Liability
- The jobholder is responsible for appointing and monitoring the panel of loss adjusters and attorneys, on lead claims in accordance with agreed service level agreements (SLAs). The job holder must build close relationships with solicitors and loss adjustors for the handling of on-going cases including any potential court cases
- The jobholder is responsible for monitoring claims on risks not led by the Syndicate including liaison with the Xchanging Claims Service (XCS), the leading Underwriter in the market, and any loss adjuster or solicitors representing the Underwriters
- The jobholder is responsible for reporting claims information on a timely and accurate basis to the Divisional Director Marine & Aviation Claims. The jobholder attends monthly and quarterly management meetings reporting significant movements, reserves, settlements, and new claims. The jobholder checks the accuracy of the information on the ISYS / IRIS claims system to help present reports at the meetings.
- The jobholder attends Unit meetings, holds discussions and liaises with the Underwriter regarding the policy wording and potential claims / underwriting issues.
- The job holder is responsible for reconciling XCS reserves (through electronic messaging).
- The jobholder is responsible for checking and coding SCM (Syndicate Claims Messages) to identify potential reinsurance recoveries – the jobholder particularly focuses on identifying large losses as this will have the greatest impact on reinsurance (Internally known as CAT codes).
8. The jobholder will be responsible for the accuracy of manual claim entries and their reconciliation with the triangle.
- The jobholder is responsible for liaising with outwards reinsurance technicians on reinsurance recoveries and provides information in respect of queries raised by the reinsurer.
- The jobholder liaises with the accounts department for cheque requests (where applicable). For the Lloyd’s related settlements the Broker creates the LCCF (Lloyd’s Claim Collection form) and the jobholder then authorises for the broker to take to the XCS for processing.
- The jobholder is responsible for assisting in the promotion of Syndicate to assureds and brokers through the provision of its claims service. The jobholder will support the Underwriter and meet brokers and insureds for new business or large claims.
- The jobholder represents The company at various Claims Committees and market meetings with other syndicates and insurers.
- The jobholder is responsible for supporting any audit process including internal audit and / or reinsurance companies.
