Job Description

Exciting opportunity to join this market leading and expanding Insurance Company for an experienced Commercial / APC Underwriters

The Role:

Dealing with underwriting referrals from brokers, you will be expected to underwrite High Net Worth Household business in order to meet agreed service standards and key performance objectives.

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with a panel of brokers

Maximise the retention of existing renewals and handle mid term adjustment on existing business

Maintain profitability of the account by making sound individual underwriting decisions

Act as mentor and point of referral for Trainee Underwriters to develop the commercial technical knowledge of the Underwriting Centre
Contribute to developing the commercial underwriting appetite

Negotiate with brokers to maximise business profitability

The ideal candidates will have the following attributes:

Act as a point of reference to the Commercial or APC Underwriters within the central underwriting team

A proven track record within underwriting, ideally within the Commercial / Art and Private Client sectors

The ability to develop a thorough personal lines technical underwriting knowledge and then make accurate, clear underwriting decisions

Skills to develop close rapport with our broker supporters

Potential to develop good sales and development skills

Career drive. The role is likely to evolve very quickly as the team expands and candidates must demonstrate a willingness and ability to cross-train on other product lines

Be of graduate calibre or have equivalent / comparable work experience.

Job Ref: MASS 837 Hours: Full Time Location: Essex Working Term: Permanent Position Salary: £30,000 - £40,000
