Job Title: Management Accountant


Job Description

The role will be responsible for all operational aspects involving the accounting of Group entities, including the listed entity, managing agency and corporate members.
The role will also be responsible for the preparation of quarterly management accounts with commentary, regular reconciliations and analysis of key account balances, oversee the preparation of the group VAT return and subsidiary statutory accounts, plus general internal reporting and other ad hoc project work.
Main Duties:
Responsible for the accounting of insurance technical and non technical transactions in the relevant ledgers of managing agency, corporate entity and listed entity, including:
Expenses, including payroll and the expense allocation process
Personal expenses
Foreign exchange
Bonus accounting
Pension cost adjustments
Adjustments affecting equity accounts (shares, share options)
Consolidation entries
Investment income, interest expense.
Consolidation of figures reported by an overseas subsidiary.
Prepayments and accruals
Cash / purchase ledger.
Accruals and prepayments
Responsible for:
The Preparation of management accounts including variance analysis and commentary for the managing agent
Preparation of QF1 and AF1
Oversee preparation of the group VAT return including recoverable rates and liaison with VAT advisors and Customs
Responsible for the recording of key balances: payroll, profit commission, pension, income
Oversee the recording of the remaining balances held on the ledger including accruals, recharges and fixed assets
Preparation of a quarterly management information pack for use of the Reporting team, including ledgers, evidence of reconciliations being performed across all the companies, reconciliations of certain key account balances and all ledger information necessary for the production of consolidated financial statements and other regulatory returns.
Assist the Group Accounting Manager in the implementation of new accounting standards and Lloyd’s accounting rules.
Responsible for the administration of ledgers kept in Dynamics / Great Plains.
Internal and external audit liaison
Continual monitoring of systems and procedures and recommending improvements
Project work and ad hoc tasks as required
Technical Skills:
Able to interpret financial information. Good reporting skills. Very good to advanced experience of using Excel. Presentation skills in reporting management information. Ability to construct own reports and documents using Word and Excel.
Education:
CIMA/ACCA – Newly Qualified.
Relevant Experience:
Experience within an Accounts environment and to have worked towards a similar role ideally having gained some experience of preparing financial statements or management accounts.
It is desirable but not essential to have worked within the Insurance market, preferably Lloyd’s and have previous experience in preparing information for and liaising with internal or external auditors.
