Job Description
Job Summary:
To carry out actuarial pricing work as required. Principally this will be in respect of commercial lines pricing for all managed syndicates, in particular developing new and enhancing existing rating models. In addition, the role includes account pricing work, and there may in future be some exposure to personal lines business. The Pricing Actuary will work directly with the underwriters under the guidance of the Head of Pricing.

Main Duties
Development of new commercial lines rating models for in-house syndicates
Commercial lines rating model review and development work for Third Party syndicates
Maintaining and enhancing existing rating models
Peer review of rating models and rating work
Assistance with the management of more junior team members of the pricing team
Actuarial account pricing and other Underwriter support
Liaising with capital management, reserving and business planning to develop and maintain robust links between rating targets, business plans and capital models
Assignments arising from Underwriting Management and Lloyd’s PMD requirements
Assistance with other non-pricing areas, as required
Technical Skills

Good knowledge of Excel and Word (or equivalent)
Desirable:

Programming e.g. Visual Basic
Databases
Education and Qualifications
Essential:
FIA qualified or Nearly FIA qualified
At least 2:1 degree in a numerate subject (Maths, Science, Economics, Finance etc)
Maths A Level: Grade A
Relevant Experience
Essential:
General insurance experience
Desirable:
Lloyds experience
Pricing experience, especially Property Catastrophe classes
Specialist Training
Software and Pricing Training will be provided as required

Well presented and business-like
Professional outlook
Flexible at all times

Excellent organisational skills
Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise at all levels
