Job Description

Our client is a leading specialist insurer covering a diverse portfolio of personal and commercial risks. As a market leader in our chosen areas of business, we cover risks that range from marine, terrorism, aerospace, technology, media and professional indemnity through to high value personal insurance, such as homes and contents, fine art, bloodstock and kidnap and ransom. The Role This is a newly created role; due to the growth in the project portfolio for the group we now require an additional Senior Business Analyst. You will work closely with the Project Managers’ team to deliver projects. The main area of focus is to contribute as a senior business analyst to key projects. The role will be based in our Colchester office with regular travel (2 to 3 days a week) to London. Key Responsibilities Produce typical business analyst deliverables, such as requirements analysis and functional specifications and clarity of project brief between the stakeholders. Build a strong knowledge of the business units, their processes and the roles they play within the organisation. Build strong productive relationships with the managers and staff within the business units and across IT and with external third parties in order to deliver effective solutions based on a deep understanding of the business and all the business functions end to end. Candidates will contribute to improved processes and ways of working in the management and delivery of analysis, working closely with IT project managers and business analysts. Contribute to the development of effective management of change and to form working relationships with other members of the analyst community. Ensure consistent quality and timely analysis delivery, liaising with other areas of the Change team. Work closely with other analysts in the Change team on other projects to ensure a continuity of approach. Ideal Person Specification Be a graduate, or of graduate calibre and you will probably have a post graduate qualification in an IT or analytical discipline Experience working in the Lloyds or general insurance Market is essential as is specific exposure to working on projects involving process or system changes within ceded reinsurance. Exposure to distributed teams and relationship building with stakeholders who are also not located within the same geographical area. Have a strong understanding of process analysis and improvement using a full awareness of the way that people, systems and processes interact. Exposure to the full project life cycle, from inception to user acceptance testing and initial live running. Have the ability to combine “soft” influencing, persuasion and consultancy skills with “leadership” qualities that will encourage business leaders to positively respond to questions, inquires and requests to meet deadlines Intellect and gravitas to influence and gain credibility with business personnel and management. Candidates will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of working with people at all levels within and external to the business. Creative, proactive, logical and innovative – you do not accept the status quo. Highly results driven, with the energy and determination to succeed in a very fast paced environment where the pace of response and leadership is critical to success. Practical experience of planning and resource scheduling within the project process. Demonstrate a commitment to quality, service and problem management.
