JOB DESCRIPTION – Senior Product Manager
Location: Wimbledon: Marketing Department.
Reporting to: TBC
Reports: Account Managers.
Starting date: Spring 2009.
Following review of the Commercial Division structure in line with the Group’s Strategic Plan it has been decided to merge existing Commercial and Marketing departments to form a single Marketing Division. This key business function will be responsible for leading the evolution of D&G into a marketing led, customer-centric organisation.
In this role your contribution will be key to maximising the potential of our client partnerships. You will manage the development and maintenance of compelling product propositions within specific sectors and ensure achievement of New Business and Renewal turnover targets. Your Account Management team will support you and ensure that these propositions help to add value to our business partner brands.
You will manage the effectiveness of these propositions in terms of cost of business acquisition, supporting achievement of the Group’s profitability targets, as well as ensuring alignment with key strategic initiatives set out in the Group’s business plan.
As a key figure within your business area you will process multiple streams of information from other business areas, clients and members of your team, orchestrating the delivery of optimum propositions in consideration of these inputs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Objectives
· Meet both new business and renewal premium income targets for specific sectors.
· Ensure target acquisition costs are met across each sector under your control.
· Ensure development of propositions in accordance with facets of the UK Strategic Plan, promote best practice across your sectors and effect change.
· Develop consumer pricing strategy for clients within your remit to maximise income and ensure the consumer pricing and acquisition cost strategy meets marketing budget requirements.
· Develop and manage test plan activity with the aim of maximising efficiency of all marketing contacts.
· Work with other areas of the Marketing team to implement optimum direct mail, outbound telesales and inbound telesales and email strategy to maximise premium income.
· Develop and manage business plan for the sectors under your control.
· Create business plans for all of the top accounts in your sector to deliver the required new business, renewal income and the overall marketing budget.
Team Management
· Provide inspirational leadership of Account Managers and their teams within the sectors allocated.
· Develop a high calibre team, tasked with maximising performance and flexibility in the achievement of Group objectives.
· Foster a high performance culture through KPI measurements, ensuring that the context, rationale and purpose of the set objectives are clear to all team members.
· Ensure accounts and workloads are allocated and resourced appropriately and that teams proposed by the relevant functions have the appropriate skills and experience.
· To support performance and development reviews for direct reports in accordance with the performance management guidelines, and champion the concept of performance management throughout the team.
· To maintain effective communication with team members and ensure that a regular communication structure exists to cover company, division, department and team performance.
· To encourage appropriate skill and knowledge sharing across the team.
EXAMPLE ACTIVITIES
· Coordinate development and implementation of new revenue generating activity and initiatives within your sector.
· Develop relationships with key client marketing contacts, leveraging Sales team support and the relationships managed by your Account Management team.
· Monitor revenue and acquisition cost performance. Develop and deliver action plans to mitigate risk of budget shortfall.
· Analyse reports on all KPI’s within your sector and develop structures for continuous performance improvement.
· Manage relationships with external suppliers and partners (eg P&G, ARC).
· Oversee creative strategy for clients within your sector.
· Understand through market research the marketplace for each sector e.g. volume/size/product and the competitive environment.
