Job Description
Reports to:
Binder Underwriter but with direct affiliation to the Cat Modelling Team.
Job Summary:
My clients are looking for a Cat Modelling Analyst to interpret, prepare and analyse underwriting data to provide comprehensive catastrophe modelling information to support the underwriting process.
Main Duties:
Analyse the quality of data presented in underwriting submissions and be prepared to reject any data that does not meet the required standard.
Use judgement to correct poor data and /or liaise directly with brokers to acquire reliable data.
Keep underwriter informed of, and document, data adequacy issues and assumptions made in the modelling process.
Work with underwriter to promote provision of good quality data from clients and brokers.
Using MS Excel and MS Access convert the data in a format suitable for RiskLink Interpret slip terms and conditions and convert these in to a format suitable for RiskLink Import the data in to RiskLink and Geocode.
Run the appropriate profiles in RiskLink, extract the results and attach to the in-house property model.
Interpret the results and report to underwriters where necessary.
Liaise with rest of Cat modelling team on any issues arising in the modelling process and for ongoing training / mentoring.
Ad hoc underwriting assistant’s duties.
Technical Skills:
Advanced use of MS Excel.
Advanced use of MS Access.
Good working knowledge of RMS RiskLink.
Comfortable with using in-house underwriting management systems Competent at using Internet Explorer for conducting research.
General computer skills such as saving and retrieving data, basic MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe Reader, Windows XP.
A good general knowledge of world geography and basic construction types.
A good understanding of fundamental insurance/reinsurance concepts, slips terms and conditions.
Education and Qualifications:
Essential:
GCSE Maths grade B or above.
5 A grade GCSE’s (ideally in the sciences and maths disciplines).
3 ‘A’ Levels (A & B grades in science & maths disciplines).
Desirable:
Degree level qualification in a Science, Engineering or Mathematical based subject Progressing towards a CII qualification or other relevant professional qualification.
