Reports to: Head of Engineering.

Provide in-depth technical support to Underwriters and customers with a focus on hazard identification, risk assessment and cost effective risk improvement solutions.

Responsibilities:

Conduct desk top reviews of third party reports assessing the risk exposure level and the accuracy of maximum loss calculations.
Carry out site visits and prepare comprehensive risk assessment reports using specialist risk modeling tools.
Compile and analyze statistical data, as well as other relevant technical information, for the purpose of assisting Underwriters in risk selection and pricing. Review reports of loss adjusters and provide engineering support to the Claims department.
Develop state-of-the art risk engineering methods.
Participate actively in relevant workshops, seminars and conferences.

Requirements:

Civil or Structural engineering degree.
Other disciplines may be considered if appropriate.
The position requires hands on experience in the construction industry either as an engineering consultant or contractor.

Technical Skills:

Proven in-depth knowledge and experience of the following areas:

Infrastructure: Buildings, Bridges, Roads, Rail.
Coastal Works: Jetties, Breakwaters, Harbours. Tunnelling.
Quantitative/qualitative risk assessment and management as applied specifically to the above areas.
Key hazards associated with typical construction methods and temporary works.

Non-Technical Skills:

Proactive; ability to initiate and prioritize own work loads to meet set deadlines and agreed targets.
Excellent presentation and report writing skills.
Capable of presenting complex technical information to a non technical audience.
Experience of working in a multinational environment; willingness to travel (max. 40%) Fluent English; any additional language is advantageous.
