Job Description
Department: Risk Management, Risk Assurance Group
Job Summary:
To support the Risk Management department in maintaining and developing the Risk Management Framework for the Group, including Third Party Syndicates.
Main Duties - General:
To support the Risk Management department in developing and maintaining the Group’s Risk Management Framework.
Main Duties:
To assist in maintaining and developing the Group and third party syndicates’ risk registers.
To perform risk assessment and review activities.
To perform control assessment and development activities.
To assist in / conduct risk reviews as required and to produce recommendations that are risk based and commercially relevant.
To assist in overseeing the implementation of risk based control improvements.
To assist in the identification and monitoring of opportunities, risk issues, control failures/near misses.
To assist in overseeing appropriate remedial action for areas of risk or control deficiencies.
To assist in developing and to produce quality risk reporting information.
To support the Risk Management department in defining risk appetite / tolerance across the group and to assist in the monitoring of the risk profile against such appetite or tolerance levels.
To assist in the development and implementation of Key Risk Indicators and to ensure they are embedded within the business.
To assist the business in meeting and monitoring Lloyd’s Minimum Standards for Risk Management across all syndicates, including Third Party Syndicates.
To support the Risk Management department in raising risk awareness throughout the Group.
To take primary responsibility for developing the enhanced use of SCORE risk management software tool for both risk assessment, risk reporting and ICA purposes.
To support the Risk Management department in developing and embedding the link between risk management and the ICA work.
To assist in supervising and managing any work experience placements or graduates from the central rotation scheme.
To produce regular report risk reporting for the department to the Risk & Capital Committee, CSL Board and incubator agencies on all risk matters.
To support the Risk Management department duties regarding integration for new syndicates and migration of departing syndicates.
To assist in conducting quarterly self certification meetings and other business meetings as required;
To monitor central risk logs, status and resolution of actions.
To contribute to The Group’s Risk Management development in respect of Solvency II To review service provider contracts and Non Disclosur Agreements from a risk assessment perspective.
Technical Skills:
Essential:
Intermediate knowledge of Excel and Word (or equivalent), Powerpoint. Good risk management experience and risk awareness.
Desirable:
Insurance industry experience.
Awareness of Lloyd’s and FSA regulatory regime.
Education and Qualifications:
Essential:
2.1 degree or better Professionally qualified or part qualified (finance, accountancy, audit, risk management or business studies etc)
Desirable:
Achievement of/studying towards a risk management qualification.

Relevant Experience:
Desirable:
2 years audit or risk management experience in the insurance industry Operational and Financial risk management experience Lloyd’s Managing Agency experience Member of AIRMIC and / or IRM.
Specialist Training:
Attendance at relevant FSA, AIRMIC, IRM and external regulatory and risk management training and briefing sessions.
Personal Skills:
Competent within the specific job role, aware of all technical requirements and able to apply these in a logical manner in performance of all duties.
Aware of internal policies and procedures and working practices consistent with the job role.
Able to understand the key business issues that affect the profitability and growth of the business and takes appropriate action to maximise success.
