Job Description

Team: Project Delivery

Department: IT

Reports To: Project Delivery Manager

Job Purpose:

To manage and take full accountability for delivering projects as assigned and resourced through the Project Office, within agreed time, cost and quality, thereby achieving agreed business benefits.
To matrix manage staff and third parties to ensure the successful delivery of a project.

Key Responsibilities:

Initiation:
To work closely with key stakeholders and the Business Analysts to provide guidance on appropriate solutions based on the IT strategy and technical and applications standards.
To provide input in to the creation of the business case, including the project definition, the approach, resource requirements, costs, initial plan and initial risk analysis.
Planning & Control:

To manage projects in accordance with the I.T Project Framework and governance processes.
Identify and manage the key interfaces between the project and activities in other programmes, projects and the business.
To plan, manage and deliver projects within the agreed parameters of cost, time and quality and to the defined I.T standards and processes.
Construct and manage project budgets and monitor actual expenditure against them.
To work closely with the Project Office to ensure timely management of resources allocated to the project.
Manage third party suppliers and external services providers.
Manage risks and issues, take corrective actions and escalate as appropriate.
Deliver key reporting information in line with IT standards, including budget, risks, issues, resource allocation, and progress against key milestones.
Delivery:

Ensure the project is delivered on time, to budget and with the agreed functionality and business benefits.
Any changes to the project must be in line with authorised change control processes.
Manage communication with key stakeholders and project sponsors.
Work with Project Sponsors to ensure that business benefits identified in business cases are realised.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

Essential:

Degree calibre, plus at least 3 years practical experience in managing projects in a large organisation.
Ability to establish and maintain key project communication, both internally and externally to the project team.
Ability to manage resources across teams and departments.
Ability to manage and motivate the project team.
Ability to mentor and contribute to the development of project resources.
Driven and motivated to deliver against agreed timescales.
Ability to negotiate with the Project Office for resources and to support negotiation with third party suppliers.
Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively at all levels, including Director level.
Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
Results and outcome focused.
Experience in creating and managing project plans.
Experience of successfully managing the full end to end project life cycle, with internal and external parties on the team.
Ability to manage project finances.
Proven ability to deliver projects to time, cost and quality.
Demonstrable experience of managing project issues, risks and change control.
Experience of implementation planning and change management.
Experience of working with structured project methodologies.
Desirable:
Prince II.
Knowledge and experience of ITIL processes.
Microsoft Project skills.
Business Analysis experience.
Experience of managing projects in an SAP environment or experience of an SAP implementation.
