Department:
Central Underwriting Processing Team (CUPT)
Reports to:
Syndicate Operations Manager
Job Objective/Summary:
To provide efficient and effective transactional processing of the underwriting records for all Classes of Business within The company which form part of the Central Operations role.
Main Responsibilities:
Working closely with Underwriting Staff, effect data capture of key Underwriting information to the core operating system(s) within agreed service levels and standards.
Specific capture requirements will include:
Underwriting/Market Reform Contract Information.
Premium and associated Financial Details.
Contract Certainty Results.
Aggregate Risk Data.
Policy Issuance Information.
Production of Motor Insurance Certificates, and associated client correspondence.
Production and organisation of paper and electronic file documentation/information for all classes of business, including scanning of documents to the in-house Document Management System.
Working closely with Finance and Underwriting Staff, rectify the mis-match of Signed Premium Records to Written Premium records.
Review daily the transactions requiring clearance and action, as appropriate.
Correction of underlying data entry errors.
Provision of administrative support to all Underwriting Teams, as directed by the Syndicate Operations Manager.
Competencies:
Technical, Including I.T Essential or Desirable:
Strong IT skills for setting up and managing databases and manipulating data.
Good working knowledge of the relevant software packages, e.g. Word, Excel, with the ability to assimilate new packages and create spreadsheets. Essential.
The ability to use initiative and take responsibility in data input/management, including attention to detail and spotting/rectification of errors - Essential.
Knowledge of Managing Agency Underwriting Processes, both transactional and reporting Desirable.
London MRC Slip Construction Desirable.
Education and Qualifications Essential or Desirable:
4 subjects at GCSE or GCE O level, including English and Maths Essential.
Lloyds Introductory Test Desirable.
ACII studies Desirable.
Experience/Knowledge Essential or Desirable:
Demonstrated experience of working with Lloyds in an administrative capacity, demonstrated by a sound knowledge of Lloyds procedures, systems, etc. Desirable.
Personal Attributes/Abilities Essential or Desirable:
The ability to organise own workload and effectively prioritise conflicting demands from several sources, sometimes working under pressure to complete tasks to a defined timetable. - Essential
The flexibility and willingness to undertake a range of administrative functions competently, interacting with other team members. Essential.
Good interpersonal skills for dealing with internal and external contacts, e.g. underwriters, brokers, clients. Essential.
Attention to detail Essential.
Strong team communication and skills, both orally and written - Essential.
Good written communication skills and a reasonable level of numeracy - Essential.
Ability to show initiative and work under pressure Essential.
Ability to deal with a volume of complex information, disseminating and summarising in reports as necessary Essential.
