Job Title: Head of Direct Marketing


Job Description

Reporting to:

Head of Marketing

Duties:

Working closely with both creative and marketing operations teams.
The Head of Direct Marketing will be responsible for delivering on both acquisition and retention targets across all client accounts both in the UK and overseas.
You will be focused on strategy implementation, campaign management, leading and supporting a team and providing expert guidance on campaigning, testing plans, and results analysis.
You’ll manage key internal supplier relationships and promote cross departmental working, all with the aim of achieving ambitious annual business targets as well as longer term strategic objectives.
With proven direct marketing expertise in the industry you will bring to the Group a valuable portfolio of skills in managing the direct marketing process.
Since you’ll be responsible for the customer database and campaigning performance across all channels of communication including mail, telephone, and online you will be centrally placed within the group to drive forward all direct marketing activity and so maximize campaign profitability and customer lifetime value.
Crucially you will have the ability to lead and inspire, and get the very best out of those around you.

Key areas of responsibility:

Lead and develop the Direct Marketing Function of the business.
Create and implement direct mail, outbounding and email campaign strategies.
Deliver on Marketing’s actions within a cross departmental retention strategy.
Initiate and manage a robust testing program across all elements of the marketing mix  and present back to the business lessons learnt from the testing program.
Manage all campaigns to budget / acquisition cost.
Own the clients customer database and drive forwards initiatives to improve data quality across the business.
Drive forwards a data modeling strategy to improve campaign conversion rates and reduce mailing volume.
Work alongside Our Clients commercial division in proactively developing key accounts.
Become the clients key point of contact on all Direct Marketing issues and represent Marketing’s input at external client meetings.
Deliver all projects to business timescales by developing and executing clearly communicated campaign plans.

Key Skills/Experience:

Proven Direct Marketing Experience (including acquisition and retention).
IDM Diploma in Direct Marketing a definite advantage.
Established experience in managing and leading teams.
Good knowledge and experience of print production and the construction of mailing campaigns.
Numerate with a sound understanding of basic statistics.
Ability to manage own workload.
Communications skills – both written and verbal.
Imaginative but practical approach to problem solving.
Information Security.

Job Ref: MRL43 Hours: Full Time Location: Central London / London Working Term: Permanent Position Salary: £40,000 - £50,000
