Job Description:

This role will be working within the HUC Team in Colchester.

The Role:

As a senior experienced underwriter working within the company Underwriting Centre, this role will act a referral point to trainee underwriters and also deal with specialist cases on an individual basis.
Key deliverables will include hitting retention targets, quoting and converting new business enquiries, whilst maintaining the teams’ high level of customer service and technical expertise.

Key responsibilities:

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with a panel of brokers.
Write New Business & Renewals to targets across all lines of PSC business.
Maximise the conversion of new business quotes & retention of renewals.
Maintain profitability of the account by making sound individual underwriting decisions.
Act as mentor and point of referral for Trainee Underwriters.
Negotiate with brokers to maximise business profitability.

Person Specification:

Educated to degree level or equivalent.
Willing to study/progression towards ACII.
A proven track record within underwriting ideally within specialist professions.
Drive, Determination, Enthusiasm, Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, Strong organisational skills and Ability to develop technical competency.
Experience in either Professional Indemnity or Commercial Property would be ideal, however we will consider Underwriters from other specialisms.
