Underwriting Assistant Department:
Property
Reports to:
Class Underwriter
Job Objective/Summary:
To provide administrative support to the Property Team mainly in it’s exposure management.
Main Responsibilities:
To review, cleanse and manipulate exposure data – from excel spreadsheets (non-standard format) into a template spreadsheet.
To load exposure data in to an exposure management database (Open Xposure) and deal with validation failures.
To enter policy and exposure limits in to Open Xposure – extracting information from a variety of sources.
To maintain an (up-to-date) log from which reports and reminders relating to exposure data can be produced.
To enter policy details on to the company system ‘the company’ (as required).
To provide general administrative support to the section (as required).
To check and verify entries on systems by other team members.
To generally progress, chase and follow up queries, e.g. missing or inadequate exposure data.
To produce reports as required.
To act as relief receptionist (lunchtimes, holidays, sickness) for the office on a rota as required.
Competencies - Essential or Desirable:
Technical, Including I.T:
Above average skills in Excel and manipulating data, good working knowledge of Word and the ability to assimilate new packages – Essential.
Experience of setting up and management of databases - Desirable
Education and Qualifications:
Education to at least A level, with passes in English and Maths – Essential
Good oral and written communication skills - Essential
Experience/Knowledge:
Experience of working in a similar role either within Lloyds’ or a Commercial Insurer in a similar role – Desirable.
Experience of working with data manipulation / cleansing - Essential.
Personal Attributes/Abilities:
The ability to organise own workload and effectively prioritise conflicting demands from several sources, sometimes working under pressure to complete tasks to a defined timetable – Essential.
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail whilst working within required timeframes – Essential.
The ability and willingness to use initiative – Essential.
The flexibility, willingness and ability to undertake a range of administrative functions competently, interacting with other team members – Essential.
Good interpersonal skills – Essential.
