Job within UPR, Actuarial, Finance and ultimately other areas of the business. While also maintaining and enhancing
Job Summary:
To support the Business Reporting Development Manager in the development of new EPO models to further improve the reporting and business processes within UPR, Actuarial, Finance and ultimately other areas of the business.
While also maintaining and enhancing the existing EPO models and handling the general ‘business as usual’ tasks associated with the role.
Main Duties:
EPO Model Development:
To assist and develop the 16 models outlined in the EPO Road Map scheduled for 2008 – 2009.
To assist in the implementation of the change control process for all live models.
To aid in the management of the change control process ensuring requests are appropriately scoped, time scaled and well documented before implementing or assisting in the model development.
EPO Model Maintenance:
Liaise with IT, Business Objects (SAP) and the Business to ensure that the Live, Test and Development Environments are running at an optimal level.
Regularly review the performance of the Live Application and Database servers to identify any orphan processes or irregularities which could impact end user access.
Develop the aesthetics and functionality of Books for End User access.
As well as reviewing the most up to date features available in new versions of the software, ensuring that any benefits are realised in the existing models.
Assist other areas of the business involved in EPO development on a ‘consultancy’ basis.
Using the EPO Test Procedure, thoroughly test upgrades or installs of the software releases within the test environment (Due for installation Q1 2008) against current model functionality, also utilising any new tools to potentially promote to the business.
In line with the Change Control and EPO Test Procedures, following enhancement requests to Live Models and the subsequent development in the Dev Environment; test the impact on the models performance and effects on other models in Test before promotion to the Live Environment.
Support in the identification and implementation of new Reporting Tools which will maximise the reporting capabilities of EPO. This will eventually include the development of such reports.
Quality reviews of models in development to maintain model development best practice / guidelines.
Document Process Maps to accurately depict the processes of the models at its final stage.
To also be updated in line with any change controls.
Troubleshoot issues involving EPO: security, models, Databridge, bugs etc.
Maintain/update the EPO Issues log.
Assist with business requirements specification.
Technical Skills:
Essential:
Advanced use of Excel.
Intermediate knowledge of Word.
Advanced knowledge of VBA.
Education and Qualifications:
Essential:
Minimum of 2 ‘A’ Levels.
GCSE Maths grade B or above.
Minimum of 5 other GCSEs grade C or above.
Desirable:
LLMIT (or equivalent).
Studying towards ACII.
Honours Degree.
Relevant Experience:
Essential:
2 year’s general insurance experience.
Desirable:
3 year’s general insurance experience.
Specialist Training:
EPO software.
Crystal software.
