Purpose of the Job:
To develop and maintain profitable direct and ex-yard sales in line with an established annual operating plan.
To establish a Sales Office as a high profile single point of contact of servicing all materials requirements of both Branch and National Customers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial:
In conjunction with the Branch Manager establish and agree the annual operating plan for the department.
Ensure that the department maximizes the use of preferred and rebatable suppliers in accordance with company directives.
Customers:
Through liaison with branch and sales teams, agree upon a target ledger of existing and potential customers for development.
Establish a customer data file for the recording of information relevant to each of these customers.
Sales:
In conjunction with the external sales personnel evaluate existing trading patterns of targeted customers and develop strategies designed to focus maximum effort of department staff on the department of both ex-yard and direct sales on all product groups.
Have regular communications with both key support branches designated throughout region and other sales offices within network to ensure that a superior level of customer service is maintained.
Utilise all available company systems in the correct and efficient processing of sales quotations, direct call offs and ex-yard orders passed to branches.
Liase closely with Regional Key Account Staff, the National account team and the National Sales Office to ensure that all customers are targeted correctly and they receive consistent levels of pricing and service.
Establish and develop good working relationships with the sales offices and local personnel of key suppliers, maximising the benefits of joint approaches to customers.
Make full use of Sales Leads generated by the company.
Telephone Sales – where applicable:
Ensure that regular contact is made with all regional telesales accounts through the use of structured, pro-active calling.
Establish and maintain accurate records of customer’s calls and actions taken.
Monitor the performance of individuals Telephone Sales Representatives on a monthly basis, publishing details of their activity to Branch Management.
Marketing:
In conjunction with Branch Management develop and support a consistent approach to the marketing of the Sales Office network to target customers. Administration
Ensure that the Sales Office administration function is carried out in accordance with company procedure as laid out in the Company Reference Manual and that customers of the department receive a consistent and accurate level of service. This Job Description seeks to identify the main areas of responsibility for a Regional Sales Office Manager. Other related tasks and duties not specified in this document may also need to be undertaken.

Health and Safety:
The postholder must at all times work within Company policies, guidelines and procedures. He/she must also understand the relevant dimensions of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, which includes the use of personal protective equipment. As the requirements of this position may include the physical movement of stock and equipment with weight, the Company instruction referring to Manual Handling must be complied with at all times.
