Deputy Manager with Reception Portfolio

Key Purpose:

Deputise for and the support the General Manager to deliver extraordinary service by ensuring delivery of the company brand standards and achievement of the business objectives; Support achievement of WINcard objectives by undertaking various projects and supporting operational activity as required.

Principal Accountabilities:

The role has 2 key accountabilities.
Generic responsibilities with a focus on Reception.
Additional accountabilities that arise from being the nominated Deputy General Manager. These are listed below:
Cover all management responsibilities in the absence of General Manager and progress all activities proactively to ensure smooth running of the hotel and achievement of all management tasks.
Support GM on activities in support of strategic planning, sales and marketing, budgeting and forecasting, across all departments.
Lead cross department initiatives and projects as required by GM, to promote continuous improvement of site and achievement of WINcard.
Support GM with day-to-day running of unit operation.
Coaching/training of staff across the hotel.

Qualifications and Experience:

Graduate level education.
Working knowledge of all departmental activities, to include core business administration areas of:
Employee relations and employment law.
Recruitment and selection.
Health & Safety, Food safety, Licensing laws and cash handling knowledge.
Business awareness.
Complaint handling.
Profit & Loss accounts.
Stock management and cost control.
Effective labour scheduling.
Level of experience required related to size and revenue of site.

Competency Profile:

Plans, prioritises & sets goals.
Delegates appropriately & follows up as necessary.
Sales Building.
Uses competitor analysis, local network and business contacts to demonstrate awareness of strengths & opportunities within the business and mobilise appropriate sales strategies.

Encourages open communication & positively influences large groups in order to drive the business.

Leading and Developing People:

Effectively leads & develops the team.
Identifies talent & coaches individuals to multi-skill, drive sales & improve the guest experience, models desired management behaviours at all times.
Flexibility and willingness to get involved in the business at key times are critical.
Commitment to managing own personal development is critical, as this role is seen as development post to General Manager.

Acts as a role model for building rapport. Anticipates & understands peoples needs & aspirations & responds appropriately.

Drives & energises self & the team to deliver results against set targets & objectives; always puts guest first.
