Job Description:

As part of the PTS development team the successful candidate will be required to work on a range of products as well as designing and developing new products working within a development team.

The principle application suites are RIMS (especially the Java presentation layer), Stock record, Inventory Manager and BorrowVision.
The breadth of technologies implemented throughout the product base requires the candidate to have a technical skill base to join a group focusing on evolving strategic new products and also supporting in-demand legacy solutions.

PTS are looking to recruit a J2EE application designer/developer with 2 years plus Java experience and 1yrs+ strong J2EE and EJB on the application server side as well as experience developing and designing with Oracle version 10 or higher.

The candidate will have proven development and design experience using web technologies including JSP/JSF, HTML, XML, XSLT, servlets, STRUTS and custom tags and have a strong track record in delivery.

The role requires an individual who is able to work quickly and effectively, individually or in team and who is a self-starter demonstrating drive and initiative.

Required Skills:

Essential:

Application development experience demonstrating strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Java.
J2EE including knowledge of struts, servlets, JSP/JSFs, custom tags.
XML.
XSLT.
JavaScript.
HTML.
Good PL/SQL and SQL in Oracle 9i and 10g or higher.

This will at least cover demonstrable competence in packages, procedures/functions, triggers, tuning and query optimization using explain plans if appropriate.
UNIX/Linux including shell scripting.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Strong emphasis and understanding of quality standards procedures.

Desirable:

UML.
C and Oracle Pro*C.
Knowledge of financial markets, would be an advantage.
Oracle Forms 10g, Oracle Reports 10g.
