Job Description
Key purpose of the role is to underwrite motor trade, taxi, single vehicle and courier new, renewal and adjustment business.
Reporting to: Section Leader
Key Responsibilities:
Underwriting of new, renewal and adjustment quotations in accordance with guidelines set by the Board and personal targets set including:
Calculating premiums on new business, renewals and adjustment criteria
Setting terms and conditions on new business, renewals and adjustment criteria
Referring risks where necessary to the appropriate senior member of staff
Ensure all calls and internet contacts are handled in a courteous and professional manner
Issuing new documentation and debit premiums
Checking of proposal forms, licences and supporting documentation
Prepare policies for issue
Issue of No Claims Bonus Proofs
Undertake administration duties and act as a support function to the team where necessary
Achieve or surpass personal targets and KPI’s
Operate in accordance with company policies and procedures including those on FSA Compliance and Human Resources
Must be a team player
This includes monitoring, implementing & reporting as requested by the Section Leader.
Ad hoc or additional:
The role may require the working of occasional weekends to assist with ad hoc projects
The above represents the key areas of responsibility within your role. However you may be required to cover additional duties as and when needed.
Experience:
2 to 5 years relevant insurance experience
Professional Qualifications:
Ideally will have a CII qualification or will be considering progression towards it.
Skills/Personal Qualities:
Ability to work on own initiative but know when to refer to senior staff; good sales technique and negotiating skills; good communication skills including confidence when talking on the telephone; ability to retain a good working knowledge of the company’s products; ability to work under pressure and to targets; computer literacy with good keyboard skills, good organisation and administration skills, plus good team working skills AND the honesty, integrity, reputation, competence/capability and financial soundness as required under the FSA FIT ‘Fit and Proper Test’.
