Job Description
The role of Senior Technical Sales Engineer requires a strong understanding of the company’s product range and an ability to sell the company’s products through the provision of a technical solution to a customer’s particular problem. This is a sales role, with an external element, working with a team in a busy Sales Department involved in selling to the company’s wide and varied customer base, including architects, consultants, contractors and end users. There may also be some technical support requirements for our overseas distributors.
Reporting to the Sales Director
Secure sales of the company products
Generate Sales enquires and convert same securing sales orders of the company’s products.
Respond to customer enquires for sales of company’s products by telephone, fax and e-mail
React to sales enquiries generated by leads services and marketing activities
Support customers in the correct analysis of their projects or technical problems
Devise and propose solutions by sizing and selecting the company equipment
Prepare technically accurate and commercially sound quotations for UK & overseas customers. Convert quotations to sales orders.
Maintain quotation log records, follow up quotations once made and report results to Sales Director.
Work with and maintain Goldmine customer relationship management database
Provide reports on sales and technical activities as directed.
Provide input into sales and marketing activities such as; product development, company documentation; point of sale marketing and case study editorials; preparation of mailings and sending out communications.
Provide product training seminars for UK and overseas customers where applicable.
Liaise with Engineering Department for technical enquiries and for product modifications on particular projects when required
Support the company distributors both in the UK and overseas with technical and marketing information where applicable.
Assist customers with after-sales service support, liase with service department for action
Based at our head office in Maldon, the role has an important customer facing external element. The successful candidate will be expected to make sales visits to UK customers on a regular basis, approx 3 - 4 days per week. This can be supported by 1 – 2 days office based administration as necessary.
The role may occasionally involve representing the company at exhibitions, presentations and seminars in UK and possibly abroad.
Candidate Profile
This position will suit an ambitious individual who is looking to join a dynamic business which has set challenging targets in a new 5 year plan.
The candidate must have a technical background, preferably with a mechanical engineering qualification, ideally to HND level or above
Candidates should have experience and knowledge of the H&V, air conditioning, building services or refrigeration industries
Candidates with a lower level of qualification will be considered providing they have extensive experience and knowledge of the above industries
Previous sales experience working for a manufacturer in a similar industry would be an advantage
Prior knowledge of the Psychrometric chart, humidity control, heating, cooling, ventilating, refrigeration or heat pumps would be an advantage
The candidate should be articulate, enthusiastic and self-motivated
Candidates should be IT literate and familiar with word processing, spreadsheets and databases
Knowledge of a foreign language would also be an advantage although this is not a mandatory requirement.
Training/Induction
Product training will be provided to give a detailed knowledge of the company’s products
A short induction training period will be undertaken to give familiarity with the company and its operations
Salary/Reward
Annual salary range will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, with an initial review after 6 months
A fully expensed company car will be provided
A lap top and mobile phone will also be provided.
Holiday entitlement is 25 days per annum
The company operates an annual Profit Related Bonus scheme
The company operates a company pension scheme
Candidate will be eligible for both of the above after a qualification period
