Binding Authority Technician, responsible initially for Premium Bordereaux monitoring and processing, with a view to development to include Claims Technical Processing.

Experience is required with a good understanding of Insurance and Binding Authorities in particular (e.g. what Aggregates/Earned to Incurred’s etc are). Experience with Property/Casualty/Auto and Cargo business would be appreciated.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the monthly processing of premium bordereaux to begin with, looking after the processing, accounting and monthly signing to Underwriters of a group of select Coverholders. This includes the checking of bordereaux, the creation of debit/credit notes and the signing and accounting to bureaux, and any accounts work that results from misallocations etc. In addition to these duties, there is also a large amount of recording of Statistics via Earned to Incurred reports etc, which would entail monitoring, collating and chasing for Premium Bordereaux. The ability to relate to Underwriters politely and to deal with any queries is also required. In some instances Underwriters also require underwriting bordereaux too, and this will also require monitoring, collating and forwarding.

This role will develop to include technical Claims processing too. This development is section wide and will formally amalgamate the claims and premiums teams, thus allowing individual technicians to fully service Coverholders. Furthermore, this development will require each individual technician to be involved in renewal/new slip preparation and Profit Commissions, which allows the technician to be involved with all technical aspects with a Coverholder or Contract from start to finish.

With this in mind, the vacancy requires someone with good Excel and Word knowledge. In addition to this, the vacancy requires someone used to using Website and Windows based applications such as Lineage for any Canadian figures required for reporting. Knowledge of our processing system Brokasure is not necessary, as this is a Windows based application and training is available from colleagues.
