Job Description
Our client, one of the UK’s leading provider of construction services and skills specialising in Pre-construction, Logistics, Construction, Hoists and Security are currently looking for a logistic site manager to plan, co-ordinate and implement day-to-day activities to facilitate smooth progression of a construction project, according to the demands of the specification. Constant communication with the client’s management team is imperative in this vigorous environment. The planning and co-ordination of contractors’ movements is also necessary in order to ensure cost-effective progression. Managers must be team players, have experience with site administrative procedures and be familiar with a number of safety issues. Good communication skills are required, together with a general knowledge of site procedures and construction practices.
Directly reportable to a Contracts Manager, the Logistics Manager will represent the company’s interests to the client on site, on a daily basis.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES – Tasks to be performed in this role. Plan and implement the activities of the labour force on site in a logistics environment in accordance with the client’s requirements and the package scope of works.
Liaise with the client on site issues, progress, proposed changes to programmed works and identify methods of speeding up progress and/or reducing costs.
Liaise with other contractors and be aware of their movements and programs which would enable labour forces to be mobilised accordingly.
Arrange and control progress meetings with own site staff and seek to identify problem areas and remedy as necessary. Attend meetings at the head office from time to time.
Order materials and labour for site works, welfare activities and any extra works as instructed by the client. Keep accurate records of extra works and any cost implications.
Maintain an awareness of environmental, health and safety issues particularly with regard to fire, the safe movement of personnel and traffic on site and waste disposal. Attend courses as necessary.
Act upon guidance and instructions issued by the client’s or our Safety representatives.
Maintain an awareness of employment legislation and ensure that we comply with the requirements of such legislation. Attend courses as necessary.
Develop and maintain a strategy which ensures that site personnel are adequately trained for their respective tasks.
Manage all administration generated on site, and in particular the compilation of method statements, completion of safety records, timesheets and allocation sheets
Possess a working knowledge of MS Software (Word and Excel) and hence the ability to develop strategies, generate, update and print site schedules and action lists if such measures are warranted. Attend courses if necessary.
Work in an efficient and cost-effective manner, to timescales and targets and within budget.
Encourage and maintain sound employee relations and provide pertinent advice and encouragement to other staff.
Have a presence on site and be aware of the main activities and ensure that the company has sufficient representation on site during site working hours.
You will need to be based in or around London or to the south west/north west of London.
