Job Type: Contract - 1 Year (Maternity Cover)

Reporting to: Senior Buyer

Department: Purchasing

Job Summary:

An opportunity has arisen within the Purchasing Department, for a Buyer reporting to the Senior Buyer. This position will be to cover for maternity leave, effective mid January 2012, until July 2012. The chosen person will work alongside Staff members to provide a mixture of disciplines within the purchasing function. The job holder will be responsible for various commodities as directed by the Senior Buyer.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the identification and development of sources of supply that offer cost advantages to the company.
Work with Suppliers to ensure that mutually beneficial working systems are in operation.
Working within the procurement team to ensure strategy and targets are achieved.

Assist in the selection and implementation of suppliers as necessary according to the sourcing process.

Monitor supplier's performance (cost, quality, delivery).
Support the Senior Buyer to develop suppliers to improve their service to our client.

Manage all assigned tasks, escalating areas of concern.

Ensure compliance with internal and external procedures.

Experience Required:

An understanding of the Purchasing disciplines and controls.
Good interpersonal skills
Proven experience of cost negotiation and working to set purchasing disciplines.

Proven experience in Global sourcing.

Experience in assisting in the management of the key supply base
